Tiffany Hayes Returns to WNBA, Joins Connecticut Sun
2017 WNBA All-Star and Two-Time National Champion Back on the Court
Hayes Signs with Sun After Retirement Announcement
Former UConn women's basketball standout Tiffany Hayes is officially coming out of retirement to join the Connecticut Sun.
Hayes, who retired from the WNBA in 2022, announced her decision on Friday, saying she was "excited to be back in Connecticut and playing for the Sun."
Hayes, a 2017 WNBA All-Star and two-time National Champion with UConn, played for the Atlanta Dream and Las Vegas Aces before retiring. She averaged 13.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game during her WNBA career.
The Sun are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished 14-20 and missed the playoffs. Hayes' addition should help bolster a young team that is looking to make a run at the championship.
"Tiffany is a proven winner and a great addition to our team," said Sun head coach Curt Miller. "She's a talented player who can score, rebound, and pass. She's also a great leader and a positive role model for our young players."
Hayes is expected to make her debut for the Sun on June 1 when they open the season against the New York Liberty.
